Catherine Simmons Wetherington, 91, of Brunswick, died on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Addington Place in Brunswick following a period of declining health. She was born on June 5, 1932, in Brooks County to the late Annie and William Simmons. Mrs. Catherine was a retired cosmetics sales associate with Belk Hudson and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brunswick.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Pat Drew of St. Simons, Dr. Kim and Jim Megow of Hahira, Shari Young of Brunswick, and Sandra and Dr. Robert Simmons of Tifton; her grandchildren and their spouses, Evyn and Jeremy Greenberg of Orlando, Fl., Ginger and Clint Joiner of Waycross, Brooke Young of Atlanta, Dr. Lindsey and Tyler Trefz of Charlotte, North Carolina, Parker and Anna Megow of Valdosta, Zachary Mangelsdorf of Valdosta, Austin Mangelsdorf of North Carolina, Thomas Megow of Valdosta, Ransom Simmons of Tifton, William Megow of Valdosta, and Artie Simmons of Tifton; her great-grandchildren, Braden Drew, Cate Joiner, Will Joiner, Victoria Megow, Jonathan Megow, Ellie Beth Megow, and Oliver Greenberg; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bobby and Brenda Wetherington of Hahira; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Virgil William Wetherington, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Willie and Carolyn Wetherington and eight brothers and sisters.
Services for Catherine Simmons Wetherington, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home of Valdosta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The burial will follow in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Cecil.
