Catherine Montague Holt

Catherine Montague Holt, 98, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012.

She was born May 1, 1913 in Lake City, Florida, a daughter of the late Robert and Sarah Johnson Montague. She graduated from Florida Southern with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, and taught elementary school in Lake City, Florida and Valdosta.

Mrs. Holt was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, and various volunteer organizations, including the South Georgia Medical Center Pink Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed cooking and being a Hostess.

She is survived by one brother, Halbert Montague of Tampa, Florida; one sister, Betty Tracy of Keystone Heights, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; and special care givers, Lavonda Anderson, Cynthia Peak, Nakita Hall, Helen James, Sonny Vickers and her friends at Grace Victory Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holt was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Holt, and two brothers, Robert and James Montague.

The funeral service for Mrs. Holt will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012, in the Chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. John McGowan officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Pulaski County. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
