Catherine Kent

Catherine Kent, 84, of Valdosta died Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on July 26, 1924 in Madison County, Florida to the late Eddie Lee, Sr. and Luvenia Hicks Barrs and had lived in this area most of her life. Mrs. Kent was the last charter member of Grace Baptist Church. She was retired from South Georgia Medical Center as an information desk receptionist and enjoyed being with her family.

Survivors include a son and daughter in law, Bill and Elaine Kent of Ocilla, two daughters and sons in law, Barbara and George Junger of Valdosta, Becky and Taylor Childre of Milledgeville, grandchildren, Melissa and Otis Tindall, Marc and Angie Wood, Micah Wood, Kevin and Cynthia Weldon, Angie and Chris Forte, Kristi Folsom, Kellen and Kourtney Kent, 11-great grandchildren, brother and sister in law, Eddie Lee, Jr. and Penny Barrs of Madison, Fla., three sisters and a brother in law, Julia Harmon, Frances and Arthur Blanton all of Valdosta, Eunice Dugas of Jasper, TX., sister in law, Fannie Barrs of Madison, Fla. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude A. Kent, a daughter, Linda Lou Kent, and four brothers, Ray Barrs, Frank Barrs, Dick Barrs and Edgar Barrs and a brother in law, Burney Harmon.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, January 9, 2009 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens.
