Carroll G. Rowan

Carroll G. Rowan, 70, of Ray City died Friday, March 11, 2011 at his home. He was born on March 13, 1940 in Lanier County to the late Verlie Stanley Rowan and Lyman E. Rowan and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Rowan was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, a graduate of Pine Grove High School, a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Union Camp Chemical. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, loved to fish, gardening and being in the outdoors. He was a fan of the Lowndes High Vikings Football and the Atlanta Braves.

Survivors include his wife, Dene Rowan of Ray City, three daughters and sons in law, Teresa and Mike Buhler of Tifton, Tina Rowan and Billy Lewis of Moultrie, Tonita and Wade Dorminey of Adel, grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Kayla Buhler, Mark and Kaci Buhler, Matthew Buhler and Heather Gray, Steven Burrows, Joshua Burrows, Lacey and Shawn Castleberry, Brandon and Donielle Lewis, Jamie and Joey Hill, Christy Griffis, T. J. Roberts, Tara Roberts and Jason and Krissy Griffis, great grandchildren, Laney Hill, Holly Burrows, Cason Griffis, Tanner Castleberry, Caleb Castleberry, Toni Smith, Destiny Smith, his sister, Carolyn DiMatteo of Marlboro, MA., his brother and sister in law, Terrell and Marie Rowan of Valdosta, niece, Terri Brown of Valdosta, numerous other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamara Rowan.

Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Monday, March 14, 2011 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with Rev. R. T. Castleberry and Rev. Jim Schappaugh officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Cat Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
