Carroll (A.C.) Peace, 85, of Clyattville, died on Friday, April 18, 2008, at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta after a brief illness. Born in Kinderlou, on October 21, 1922 he was the son of the late Benjamin and Carrie Ragan Peace. Mr. Peace had served with the U.S. Army during WWII. A lifelong member of Redland Baptist Church, Mr. Peace was a farmer. He had retired from Owens Illinois Paper Mill in Clyattville after working there for more than 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion, a Mason, a member and Past Master of St. John the Baptist and Daylight Masonic Lodges, and an Emeritus Member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mr. Peace is survived by his son and daughter in law, Charles and Louise Peace of Valdosta, daughters and sons in law, Patricia Peace and Linda Peace of Clyattville, Frances and Elbert Cox of Clyattville, Brenda and John Pendleton of Valdosta; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Peace, and eight brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 20, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Jay Watkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Redland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 5 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia or Redland Baptist Church.
