Carolyne "Gram" Johnston

Carolyne "Gram" Johnston, 85, of Valdosta, GA died Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Langdale Hospice House. She was born on December 29, 1929 in Irwin, TN to the late Roscoe Conklin Smith, Sr. and Sadie Gaines Willson Smith. Mrs. Johnston was a retired bank security officer, a member of Convenant Baptist Church, a member of "DAR" the Daughters of the American Revolution, a volunteer with Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children and Habitat for Humanity.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Martha and David Cummings of Valdosta, two sons and daughters in law, Elliott and Laura Johnston of Newburgh, IN and Gaines and Cathy Johnston of Columbus, MS, grandchildren, Robert Cummings of Valdosta, Rachel and Lance Bennett of Valdosta, Daniel and Christina Cummings of Macon, Jackson Johnston of Newburgh, IN, Caitlin Johnston of Newburgh, IN, CPT Chris and Jennifer Johnston of Clovis, NM, Brittany and Seth Chorley of Columbus, MS, Austin Johnston of Columbus, MS and her great grandson, Paul Andrew Johnston, her sister and brother in law, Dottie and Bill Andersen of Glennwood, MD, her sister in law, Marilu Smith of Clarkston, GA and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Johnston is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Paul Elliott Johnston, Sr., three brothers, Roscoe Smith, Jr., Collis Smith and David Smith and her sister, Anne Burn.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor David Cummings officiating. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
