Carolyn L. Scharf, an adoring mother, grandmother, and friend, gently passed away at the age of 84 on the evening of November 10, 2021 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA, in the loving company of her family. Carol was born on August 15, 1937 in Green Sea, South Carolina, to the late Ernest and Eunice Lovett.
She lived in Valdosta for over sixty years, where she proudly ran her own bookkeeping business. She treated her clients like family, some of whom she had been helping as far back as the 1980s when she founded an accounting business with her devoted late husband Richard S. Scharf. She was a member of West End Presbyterian Church.
She loved to do for others, and everyone who knew her looked forward to the exquisite dinners and desserts she would bake for them. She could cook anything and loved trying new recipes and getting new kitchen gadgets. She also enjoyed gardening and, especially, spending time with her grandchildren. She was very fond of her late cats Boo Angel and Tiny.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Monica Hall of The Villages, Florida; her daughter and son-in-law, Katrina and Jordan Essoe of Waldport, Oregon; step-daughter and husband, Christy and Scott Davis of White, Georgia; step-daughter Dee Dee Locascio of New Berry, Florida; her grandchildren, DB, Rebecca Hall, Danielle and Caleb Dalton, Ansley Davis, Grey and Jana Davis, Shannon Locascio, and Christine Locascio; Angie and Donald Hendley, Billie Jo and Michael Slaughter, William and Jessica Spells, and Dustin and Katherine Wisor; her great-grandchildren, Shauna Moore, Lauren Hendley, Will Spells, Gabrielle Spells, Ashlyn Spells, and Reece and Rhett Wisor; her sister Margaret Small and her two brothers Tommy and Roger Lovett. She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Parker Hendley.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta, GA. Private graveside services will be held on Monday with Rev. John Akers officiating. A public memorial for Carolyn L. Scharf will be held in the spring of 2022. Entombment will be in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the ASPCA (https://secure.aspca.org/donate/memorial). Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
