Carolyn Forte Warren, 90, of Bainbridge, and formerly of Valdosta, died on Thursday, July 4, 2019 at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital following a period of declining health. She was born in Hahira, Georgia on April 11, 1929 to the late Marcus Hilsman Forte and Mittie Surrency Forte and has been a lifelong resident of this area. She had a long working career locally, beginning with Levi’s where she worked in the payroll department, accounting clerk with Stewart Giles, office receptionist with Dr. Ted Swindell, and finally retired from South Georgia Medical Center in 1994 and worked with emergency medical records. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Valdosta.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Ernie Gilstrap of Bainbridge; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles David Warren III and Lisa Warren of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Carrie Gilstrap of Mars Hill, North Carolina, Lee Gilstrap of Bainbridge, Jenna Wren and her husband Steve of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Charles Warren IV of Colorado Springs Colorado, Courtnie Warren and Rebecca Warren both of Nashville, Tennessee; three great-grandchildren, Sawyer Wren, Spencer Wren, and Layla Wren all of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Buck Durley of Jacksonville, Florida and a brother, Willard Forte of Adel; numerous nieces and nephews. . She was preceded in death by her husband Charles David Warren Jr. In addition, she was preceded by two sisters, Margaret Redding and Vella B. Rowe.
Services for Carolyn Forte Warren will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2019 in the chapel of the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Dr. Wayne Robertson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
