Carolyn B. Johnson

Carolyn B. Johnson, 95, of Valdosta, died on November 19, 2011 at the Lake Haven Nursing Home in Valdosta after a short illness. Born on September 4, 1916, in Valdosta, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Lee and Maude Pope Burgsteiner. Widow of the late Carl David Johnson, Sr., Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Forrest Park Church of Christ. She was the manager at Ocean Pond Fishing Club from 1962 until the early 1980's where she enjoyed the company of many notables including the original astronauts, governors, Paul Harvey and others. She always looked forward to the Red Carpet dinners held at Ocean Pond.
Survivors are her son, Carl David Johnson, Jr. of Valdosta; grandchildren, Ilona Coffee and husband Lloyd of Germantown, TN, Marguerite Johnson, Valdosta, Dr. C. David Johnson III and wife Heather of Tifton, Laura Griggs and husband Todd of Flowery Branch, Jaret E. Johnson and wife Jennifer of Valdosta; great grandchildren, Lindsi K.Elliott and husband Reuben of Valdosta, Lance McCrary, Germantown, TN, Travis D. Johnson, Rebecca S. Johnson of Tifton, Tyler Griggs, Flowery Branch, Hannah Johnson, Megan Johnson of Tifton, Jesselyn Johnson of Valdosta; great great-grandchildren, Anna K. Elliott & Jackson L. Elliott of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl D. Johnson, Sr., son, Ben T. Johnson, daughters in law, Janice E. Johnson & Margarete K. Johnson, great grandchildren, Jonathan & Joshua Johnson.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Mr. Bill Ward will officiate. Burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
