Carol Perich Hill, born on July 8, 1943, in Beaverdale, PA, to Stephen Perich and Rosella Theys Perich, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones. Carol was a compassionate soul whose life was marked by dedication to nursing and tireless service to her community.
After graduating from Beaverdale-Wilmore High School in 1961, Carol pursued her passion for nursing, earning her degree from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. She began her nursing career at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh from 1964 to 1966 and later moved to San Francisco, where she worked at St. Mary's Hospital until 1968 and Children's Hospital in San Francisco until 1969. In 1969, she relocated to Atlanta, GA, working at Emory University Hospital until 1972 before moving to Valdosta, GA, where her beloved daughter Shannon was born.
Throughout her career, Carol was dedicated to providing care and comfort to those in need. She worked at Piedmont and DeKalb Medical from 1972 to 1973, and her passion for helping others extended beyond the hospital walls. Carol was deeply involved in Birthright of Valdosta, dedicating her time and energy to support mothers in need, a cause she championed until her health prevented her from continuing.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, daughter Shannon, sister Stephanie, brother-in-law Richard Clapp, and sister-in-law Cathy Perich. She is survived by her sisters Patricia Clapp of Miramar, FL, Susan Wilson (Jeffrey) of Lilly, PA, Maureen (Bill) of Davidsville, PA, brothers Michael of Beaverdale, PA, and Daniel (Mary Lou) of Beaverdale, PA, and brother-in-law John Trout. She also leaves behind cherished cousins Lorraine Owens of Clearwater, FL, and Debbie Theys Heckman of Hummelstown, PA. Carol will be fondly remembered by her nephews Gregory and Keith Wilson, Brandt Hutzel, nieces Alyssa Wilson Hoitink and her sons, Brooke Hutzel Rush and her sons and granddaughter, and Maura Hutzel Guntang and her daughters.
In addition to her family, Carol had a circle of very special friends, including Volga Markum, Janice Murphy, Marilyn Singletary, Ron Selapack, and Creston Hulett, whose support meant the world to her.
The family wishes to express deep gratitude to Ansley Panizzi and all the staff at Langdale Place, where Carol resided, for the exceptional care she received in her final days.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Valdosta, beginning at 11am with a visitation on Thursday, October 19, from 4-7pm at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic School, 800 Gornto Road, Valdosta, GA, 31602.
