Carol Sue Cubino, 77, of Barney, Georgia, passed away peacefully after a dementia and Alzheimer’s disease on February 26, 2025, at home in Barney, Georgia. Carol Sue was surrounded by her family as she moved from her earthly life to her heavenly reward. Her strong will to live and love for her family was evident in her final days.
She is survived by her daughters Katie Lee Carter, and son-in-law Lemuel Carter; Brenda Sue Vinson, and her life partner, Hal Drake; Becky Senn; Gail Kelly, and son-in-law Tim Kelly; and Vanessa Gibbs, and son-in-law Tommy Gibbs. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Elaine Sills, Lacey Linahan, Travis Gibbs, Austin Clanton, Chelsea Twomey, Shelby Gibbs, Luke Kelly, Ashley Clanton, Kaela Senn, Jake Kelly, Karoline O'Neill, and John Mark Kelly, as well as her 11 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Joyce Cantrell and Diane Roberson.
Born Carol Sue Hurst on April 3, 1947, in Barwick, Georgia, to Arthur Hurst and Evelyn Jordan Hurst, Carol Sue attended school in Lowndes County. Carol Sue worked a number of years at Strickland's Cotton Mill in Remerton before beginning a career at Bayliner in Valdosta. She then met her soulmate, Bob, and they opened B&C Detailing and spent many years ensuring that their customers received the best care and service.
Carol Sue was naturally outgoing and friendly, never met a stranger, and absolutely loved music and fishing. Her proudest accomplishments in life were her five daughters. She loved them unconditionally and has always been their provider and protector.
Carol Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Roberto (Bob) Cubino, Jr.; her parents, Arthur and Evelyn Hurst; her son, Randy Cubino; and numerous brothers and sisters.
As per Carol Sue’s wishes, no formal service will be held. The immediate family will gather for a private viewing at McLane Funeral and Cremation Services in Valdosta. A memorial to celebrate her life will be planned for a later date. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all of the staff members and caregivers from Pruitt Health Hospice and Palliative Care, for their dedication and unending compassion.
