Carlyle A. Irby, Jr.

Carlyle A. Irby, Jr., 75, of Valdosta, died on Friday, June 16, 2006 at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on June 28, 1930, in Macon he was the son of the late Carlyle A. Jr., and Susan Jackson Irby. A graduate of Mercer University where he received his Masters Degree and Education Specialist, Mr. Irby was retired from the Georgia Public School System. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Barfield Irby of Valdosta, daughters, and sons in law, Misti Dawn and Michael T. Anderson of Crestview, Florida, Sandi Gayle and Bruce A. Senory of USAF, England, grandchildren, Jacob Anthony Senory of England, Matthew Tyler Anderson of Crestview, Florida, stepmother, Hazel B. Irby of Durham, North Carolina, sister and brother in law, Ninna Carol and Michael Burkhill of Durham, North Carolina, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister in law, Lt. Col. John J. and Betty Irby.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Reverend Bob Willis and Mr. Sean Chapman will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Valdosta-Lowndes County United Way, 106 S.
