Carl White Walker, 81, of Quitman, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at South Georgia Medical Center after a long illness.

He was born May 9, 1932 in Murfreesboro, TN to the late John Walker and the late Susie Mae Spence Walker. Mr. Walker was retired as President of Georgia Christian School after serving there 20 years. He was the minister and an elder of the Quitman Church of Christ since 1973 and an Air Force veteran.

Mr. Walker is survived by his wife: Martha Copeland Walker of Quitman; a son, Don (Jamie) Walker of Trenton, GA; 2 daughters, Ginny (Kenny) Holton of Dasher, GA; and Karen Sloan of Quitman; and Ervin Sloan of Quitman, GA; 10 grandchildren: Laurie Walker (Matt) Morris of Montgomery, AL; Louise Walker (Dustin) Jones of Montgomery, AL; Leigh Walker (Nathan) Woodring of Montgomery, AL; Nathan (Molly) Holton of Decatur, GA; Landon Holton of Tallahassee, FL; Jordan (Tiffany) Holton of Smyrna, TN; Jessica Holton of Dasher; Walker (Elizabeth) Sloan of Jingzhou, China; Kristen Sloan of Montgomery, AL; and Samantha Sloan of Montgomery, AL; 3 great-grandchildren: Ellie Jones of Montgomery, AL; Ethan Jones of Montgomery, AL; and Sophia Holton of Smyrna, TN. He has one sister: Mary Ruth Dyer of Tonto Basin, AZ. He was preceded in death by two brothers: William Walker and Thomas Walker and one sister: Frances Kay.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at eleven a. m. at Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta. Interment will follow in the Dasher Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Quitman Church of Christ from 6-8 PM and on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta from 6-8 PM. His son, Don Walker, minister of the Trenton Church of Christ will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Quitman Church of Christ, Georgia Christian School or Raintree Village Children's Home.
