Carl Wallace Clark, Sr., 84, of Hahira, died Thursday, September 21, 2006 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman after a short illness. He was born on July 23, 1922 in Hahira to the late Carl J. and Clyde Puckett Clark. Mr. Clark was a lifelong resident of Hahira, was a retired federal civil service employee from Moody Air Force Base, served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II as a tail gunner aboard a Mitchell B-25. He was stationed in China most of his military service on a Chenault. Mr. Clark received the distinguished flying cross and air medal and two bronze stars. His grandfather was the depot agent and head of the educational department for Hahira.
Mr. Clark is survived by his wife, Ruby Clark of Hahira, two sons and one daughter in law, Carl W. Jr. and Dolly W. Clark of Molino, FL, James H. Clark of Hahira, one daughter and son in law, Linda and Tim Pickett of Florence, MS, one granddaughter, Natalie Warnack of Loganville, GA, one great grandson, Dylan Warnack of Loganville, GA, two sisters, Nancy Slattery of Destin, FL and Lila Crawford of Leesburg, GA, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, William L. Clark, two brothers and sisters in law, Billy and Louise Clark, Jim and Peggy Clark, two brothers in law, Jim Slattery and Claude Crawford.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 25, 2006 at eleven a. m. in the chapel of the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira with Reverend Ken Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p. m. Sunday at the funeral home.
