Carl Taylor (Bubba) Slocumb, Sr.

October 21, 1943 — February 11, 2010

Carl Taylor (Bubba) Slocumb, Sr. 66 of Valdosta died Thursday, February 11, 2010 at his home. He was born on October 21, 1943 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Clint and Willie Mae Taylor Slocumb and had lived in Valdosta for the past forty two years. Mr. Slocumb was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Douglas and attended the Bemiss United Methodist Church. He graduated from South Georgia College and was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved life with a passion, his wife, children and grandchildren very much and was a very generous man who loved helping people. Mr. Slocumb loved barbequing with his son in law, loved playing golf with his son, Carl, Jr. and was an avid Florida Gator fan.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Slocumb of Valdosta, his children and their spouses, Lisa and David Maine of Hahira, Carl Taylor, Jr. and Julie Slocumb of Valdosta and Tiffany (Tee Wink) Slocumb of Valdosta, grandchildren, Amber Butler, Andrew and Faith Starling, Kristen Maine, Emily Slocumb and Taylor Slocumb, brother and sister in law, Clint and Barbara Slocumb of Lake Park, a brother in law whom he loved like a brother, Steve and Marlene Vickers of Douglas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Slocumb of Macon.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, February 14, 2010 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Young officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
