Carl S. Brinson, Jr., 84, of Valdosta, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016. He was born in Valdosta to the late Slater and Annie Brinson. He was a graduate of Valdosta High School and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955.
Carl worked in the building supplies business for most of his life and owned and ran Southside Hardware for several years. After retirement he worked part time at Raintree Village Children's Home. He loved woodworking and made many porch swings, outdoor chairs, bookcases, and other items. He was a faithful member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ and served as a deacon for many years.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, three younger brothers, Berry Brinson, Wilton Brinson, and Lamar Brinson, and his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Howell Brinson.
Survivors are his wife, Evelyn Caldwell Brinson; two daughters, Janet Brown and her husband, Byron of Valdosta, and Anita Lilly and her husband, Rex of Ellijay; five grandchildren and their spouses, Kimberly and Ashley Forthe of Adairsville, Laura and Scott Keiser of Destrehan, Louisiana, Brandon and Sara Lilly of Naylor, Alison and Scott Colvin of Harvest, Alabama, and Scott Brown of Valdosta. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren, Hannah and Austin Forthe, Rhett Lilly, Abigail, Emma, and Samuel Keiser, Sophia, Silas, Josiah, and Iris Colvin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.Saturday July 23, 2016, at the Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. John Klimko and Mr. G. R. Holton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services. Interment will be in the Dasher Cemetery following the service.
