Camille Colquitt Peeples, 78, a longtime resident of Valdosta died on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at her home. She was born in Thomaston, Georgia on September 20, 1933 to the late Adrian Banks Colquitt and Edna Bowen Colquitt and moved with her family to Tifton, Georgia when she was fifteen years old. Mrs. Peeples was a graduate of Tifton High School, Gulf Park College and the University of Georgia where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. After a brief teaching career in 1957 she married Billy Peeples and moved to Valdosta.
In Valdosta she was a member of the Valdosta Junior Service League, the Cottillon Club and the Mystery Club. She joined her husband as a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Peeples was a Trustee and Officer of Valwood School.
Camille was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband, Henry W. (Billy) Peeples, Jr. She is survived by her two sons and daughters in law, Henry William (Bill), III and Janine Peeples, John Colquitt and Jane Peeples all of Valdosta, three grandchildren, Ben Peeples, Mary Peeples and Alexandra Peeples.
The family will receive visitors on Thursday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Moon officiating. A private family interment will be held at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
