C. J. Farmer, 80, of Quitman, died on Monday, November 27, 2006, at the Presbyterian Home following a lengthy illness. Born in Brooks County on April 28, 1926, he was the son of the late Joseph and Annie Coleman Farmer. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, was a farmer and a member of Redland Baptist Church.
Survivors are his son and daughter in law, Glen and Linda Farmer of Valdosta, daughter and son in law, Patricia and Bennett Thagard of Quitman; grandchildren, Kevin and Jackie Farmer, Kristy and Jayson Anderson, Jennifer and Jason Gibson of Valdosta and Dean Thagard of Valdosta; four great grandchildren, Kayla, Kameron and Jordan Farmer and Drew Anderson, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Latrelle Farmer.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at the graveside at Sunset Hill Cemetery at 11 a.m. Reverend Buddy Morris and Mr. Bruce Barwick, Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanefuenralservices.com.
