Byron Philip Jones, 59, of Morven, died on Sunday, August 23, 2015. He was born January 19, 1956 in Columbus, GA to the late Willie Fred Jones and Iva Geraldine Hooper Jones. Mr. Jones honorably served almost 16 years in the United States Air Force. He was a loving and devoted husband who loved the outdoors and deer hunting and was known to be a fantastic cook. He liked spending time with his children and grandchildren to whom he was "Papa" or affectionately known as the "peppermint man". He enjoyed watching Nascar and football and playing video games. He also enjoyed walking his cat, Peanut Butter.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years Cindylee Jones of Morven, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Christopher and Shana Ryan of Jacksonville, FL, Terry and Alice Jones of Lakeland, GA, Anthony Jones of Sacramento, CA; two daughters and one son-in-law, Felicia and Blake Love of Thomasville, GA, Rebecca Jones of Morven, GA; twelve grandchildren, Clayton, Brandon, Katie, Austin, Gaby, Jason, Hunter, Alexandria, Conner, Josiah, Abbie, Emma Grace; a niece, Kimberly Jones of Columbus, GA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Wayne Jones.
Visitation August 25, 2015 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. A Memorial service for Mr. Jones will be held on September 4, 2015 from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. at The Oak Ridge Lodge, 16582 Valdosta Hwy. Valdosta, GA 31602.
