Byron Otho Brightwell

Byron Otho Brightwell, 67, of Valdosta died on Friday, August 19, 2016 at his residence. He was born on July 11, 1949 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to the late Cleophus and Ruby Newman Brightwell. Mr. Brightwell served in the United States Army during the Viet Nam era and was a retired truck driver with Star Leasing. He was a former member of the American Legion and was a member of Cross Pointe Church.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Jan Brightwell of Valdosta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Stacey and Jeff Gunter of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Tina and Terry Harrington of Valdosta; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Moe Brightwell of Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Carol and Dewain Murray of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Diana Brightwell of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and Lynette Fleetwood of Wichita, Kansas; a brother, Dale Brightwell of Missouri; a brother-in-law, Danny McQueary of Valdosta; numerous nieces and nephews. He was Papa to several "bonus" children as well. Mr. Brightwell was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Braiden Harrington, Brooklynne Harrington and Seriniti Harrington; his sister, Shelly Voss; his brother-in-law, Roney Fleetwood and his best friend, Dan Burkey.
