Byrd Elton Tomlinson

BYRD ELTON TOMLINSON, 73, of Valdosta died Saturday, October 30, 2004 at South Georgia Medical Center. He was born in Echols County on March 27, 1931 to the late Talley and Cara Frances Prine Tomlinson. Mr. Tomlinson was a graduate of Valdosta High School, Valdosta State University and the Russian Language School at the Presido of Monterey, Calif. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and Air Force having served in the Korean Era. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Masonic Lodge #184, Fellowship Daylight Masonic Lodge #746, the Valdosta York Rite Bodies and the Valdosta Elks Lodge. He was retired from the United States Post Office and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Gerlene Daniels Tomlinson of Valdosta, one son and a daughter in law, Scott and Julie Tomlinson of Valdosta, one daughter, Cara Jenkins of Elizabethton, TN., one stepson and stepdaughter in law, Mike and Danna Hopkins of Valdosta, six grandchildren, Drew and Macy Jenkins of Tennessee, Chad and Brittany Hopkins of Valdosta, Andrew and Julie Fiorello of West Palm, Florida, one brother and sister in law, John T. and Barbara Tomlinson, two sisters and a brother in law, Gerri Sutphin, Audrey and Joe V. Dasher, Jr. all of Valdosta, his mother in law, Irene Daniels, one brother in law, Dennis Daniels of Jacksonville, two sisters in law, Jo Cloud of Valdosta and Dorothy Daniels of Panama City, Fla. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Dorothy Havenkotte Tomlinson.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, November 2, 2004 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Alton Hardee officiating with Masonic Rites to follow the service. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Georgia Masonic Childrens Home, P.O.
