Bruce Edward Black

Bruce Edward Black, died Friday, May 21, 2021, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on November 1, 1946, in Lowndes County, Georgia, Bruce was the son of the late James Edward and Lillie Mae Bussey Black. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a General Contractor. Bruce was an avid hunter and BS extraordinaire, a dedicated husband, loving father, valued friend, and respected businessman. He will be remembered by many for his amazing personality and giving heart. Bruce has filled the role of father to many and daddy to few. He will be missed immensely but never forgotten by everyone who knew him!

Bruce is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alacia Rowan Black; his children, Chance Edward Black, Dana Black Rowland, and Ferran Edward Black and his fiancée, Brandy Pringle Henderson. Also surviving are his brothers, Ellis (Aletha) Black, Larry (Faye) Black; grandchildren, Jordan Thomas Black, Haley Brooke Henderson, Mason Edward Rowland, Joshua Gauge Henderson, James Edward Rowland, and Samuel Caden Black; great grandchild, Camille Elise Black; his sisters-in-law, Patsy Devane Yeomans, Teresa Rowan Johnson, Pam Rowan Wise and Donna Rowan Connell; and an abundance of extended grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and adored friends. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, a son Eric Edward Black, and father-in-law, William Clarence Rowan, brother-in-law, William Derryl Rowan, and mother-in-law, Lillian Thomas Rowan.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Tommy Bussey will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made in memory of Bruce to the (NRA) National Rifle Association https://donate.nra.org/donate.
