Brenda Marie Dwyer (Lewis), 67, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on February 1, 1957, she was the beloved daughter of Alton Lewis and the late Gladys (Phillips) Lewis.
Brenda was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her father, Alton Lewis of Valdosta, GA; her son, Jody Pilgrim, and grandson, Tyler Pilgrim, both of Valdosta, GA; and her daughter, Maria Scott, and her partner David Redish of Valdosta, GA. She was a proud grandmother to Brittany Brinson (R.J.) of Adel, GA, and their children, Waylan, Dakota, Liam, and Greyson, and Brandy Scott (Cody Petitjean) of Hahira, GA, and their children, Jacob, Addison, and Hudson.
Brenda is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and her extended family, lovingly referred to as “the Canadian Crew.” She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Lewis; her sister, Polly Pilgrim; and her brother, David Lewis.
A longtime server, Brenda found joy in connecting with others and making people feel at home. She had a passion for baking, cooking, and sewing, and loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and the rest of her family. Brenda was a fiercely independent spirit who lived life her own way and marched to the beat of her own drum.
Her family and friends will forever hold her memory in their hearts, celebrating the warmth, laughter, and love she brought to their lives.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Pastor Chris Helton will officiate. McLane Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted to care for the Dwyer family.
