Brenda Benavides

Brenda Benavides, 48, lifelong resident of Valdosta, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Shand's University of Florida Hospital in Gainesville, FL. She was born on September 17, 1960 in Hahira to Hubert and Mary Ratliffe Harvey. Mrs. Benavides was a homemaker and a member of Ousley Baptist Church. She loved to participate in her church's activities when she was able. She loved her grandchildren and lived every day to the fullest with them.

Mrs. Benavides is survived by her husband, Victor Benavides, Sr, one son and daughter in law, Victor, Jr. and Christy Benavides, one daughter and son in law, Kathy and James Strickland, five grandchildren, Wesley Thompson, Jr., Cassie Fennell, A. J. Strickland, Victoria Strickland and Savannah Strickland, father and stepmother, Herbert and Christine Harvey, one sister and brother in law, Becky and Gary Benavides, parents in law, Palcido and Kathyrn Benavides all of Valdosta, brothers in law and sisters in law, Velda and Tim Shoeman of Lakeland, Ben Benavides of Valdosta, J. R. Benavides, Joseph Benavides and Benny Benavides, numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Harvey.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Dillard Ensley and Dr. Clyde Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in Ousley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from five until seven p.m. Monday February 9, 2009 at the funeral home.
