Bonnie Sue Courson

Bonnie Sue Courson of Valdosta peacefully entered eternal rest, surrounded by her loving family at her home on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. She was born January 18, 1953 in Valdosta to Marjorie Coody Easler and J. B. Coody, Jr.

She was an active member of Gateway Baptist Church, served as a teacher's aide at Clyattville Elementary School, and recently retired after 20 years' employment at Walmart.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Ken Courson, of Valdosta, the couple having recently celebrated their 48th anniversary September 13, 2020. She is also survived by daughters, Angie Hester, Douglasville, GA; Brandi (Matt) Elsberry; and Kimberly (Jason) Spooner, Valdosta. She leaves to cherish her memory, grandchildren, Caitlin Hester; Dylan, Dalton, Gavin, and Sarah Elsberry; Taylor Courson, and Kenley Spooner. Survivors also include her sisters Jeanette Stalvey and Sandra (Waylon) Futch; brothers, Irvin (Fran) Coody, David (Sandy) Coody; Phillip Coody, all of Valdosta, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Bonnie is predeceased by her parents, sisters Donna Coody, Barbara Jean Coody and an infant brother. The family extends sincere thanks to Halcyon and to Bonnie's special nurse, Theresa Spooner.

Bonnie was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, Lowndes Vikings, and especially her grandchildren's sports teams. She generously gave of her talents in baking, sewing, and crafting.

A celebration of Bonnie's life will be held Friday, September 25, 2020, at Gateway Baptist Church at 5:30 p.m. with Brother Jack Seiverd officiating.
