Bobby Mayer

Bobby Mayer, 82, of Valdosta died Tuesday, June 29, 2021. He was born in the Teeterville Community of Nashville on August 14, 1938, the son of the late Leonard Henry Mayer and Ruth Sirmans Norris and was a lifelong resident of this area. Mr. Mayer was an active member and worker of Crossroads Baptist Church and retired as Superintendent of Maintenance at Packaging Corporation of America. He loved his Lord and church family. Mr. Mayer enjoyed golfing, fishing, quail hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Patricia (Patty) Herd Mayer of Valdosta; two sons and daughters in law, Bobby, Jr. and Ruth Mayer of Tallahassee, FL, David and Alisande Mayer of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Rachel Mayer, Emily Mayer, Jeremy Mayer, Christopher (Miranda) Mayer, Kaitlin Mayer; his great grandson, Ryder Mayer; sister and brother in law, Carolyn Jean and Donnie Kirkland of Nashville; brother and sister in law, Hank and Anita Mayer of Valdosta; sisters in law, Becky Mayer of Griffin, Sue Norris of Valdosta; nephews and niece, Brad Kirkland, Daryl Mayer, Shaun Mayer, Tabitha Mayer, John Norris, Jason Mayer, Kevin Mayer and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Freddie Norris and Gordon Mayer.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, July 2, 2021 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Clyde Stokes and Rev. Tom Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
