Bobby L. Yarbrough, Sr., 70, of Valdosta, died Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, after a brief illness. Born in Colquitt, on April 17, 1938, he was the son of the late Marvin Edwin & Effie Lucille Parker Yarbrough. Mr. Yarbrough is a veteran of the U.S. Army and he and his wife Bettye owned and operated Yarbrough Furniture for 36 years. He was a devoted member, Sunday School teacher and deacon at his church, New Bethel Baptist Church.
Mr. Yarbrough is survived by his wife, Bettye Bennett Yarbrough (formerly of Sparks). He and his wife have two daughters and sons in law, Tonya & Todd Hannah, of Felton, DE, and Janet & Larry Wright, of Ackworth; five sons and daughters in law, Eddie & Felecia Yarbrough, Kenny & Amy Yarbrough, Bobby & Nikki Yarbrough, all of Valdosta, Ray & Kathi Moxley, of Houston DE, and Jonathan & Lesha Yarbrough, of Gainesville; one brother and sister in law, Jerome & Joy Yarbrough of Monticello, FL and two sisters and a brother in law, Gloria Williams and Joyce & Harvey Boyd, all of Valdosta. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Yarbrough will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at New Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Fountain and Rev. Tim Van Landingham will officiate. Burial will follow at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. this evening, Monday, January 26, 2009.
