Bobby Joyce Simpson, 73, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on March 24, 1947 in Valdosta to the late Edgar Elisha and Oppilee Jefferson Simpson and has been a lifelong resident of this area. He retired from Flav O Rich company as branch manager and later retired from Peek Pavement. He had been an avid golfer in his younger years but later enjoyed fishing and limiting out on trout and red fish at Spring Warrior. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, as well as his four-legged friends.
He is survived by his wife, Karla Simpson of Valdosta; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Steven Freeman of Hahira; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Crystal Simpson of Statenville, and Rod and Kim Mainor of Valdosta; daughters and sons-in-law, Tanya and Tony Taylor of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and Tonya and Craig Weldon of Moultrie; a son and daughter-in-law, Kanan and Lauren Simpson of Brooks County; grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin and Kayla Simpson of Statenville, Grant Freeman, Kaitlyn and Clayton Davis all of Hahira, Jayme Mainor of Valdosta, Emily and Taylor Kidd of Moultrie, Shayla Snipes of Moultrie, Allison Freeman of Hahira, Kortlyn Simpson of Statenville, Justin and Blake Taylor of Port St. Lucie, Ian and Cole Simpson of Brooks County; a soon to be great-grandchild, Kayzleigh Simpson. He was preceded in death by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Rebecca and Cecil Maxwell, Peggy and Claude Luke, and Betty and Carnell Phillips; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bully and Ann Simpson, and Junior and D’Ree Simpson.
A graveside service for Bobby Joyce Simpson will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Brooks County with Rev. Frank Gupton officiating. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane
