Bobby Eugene Greene, 88, it is with profound sadness that the family announces his passing on Saturday, March 22, 2025, in Valdosta. Bobby was born on February 17, 1937, to the late Richard Gaulden & Maggie Guess Greene, in Valdosta, GA. After graduating from Valdosta High School in 1955, he joined the U.S. Army. Returning home to Valdosta he married the former Dorothy Reeves on April 12, 1959. In the early 1960’s, Bobby started working at the Marbut Company. He began as a salesman and was promoted to manager in his nearly 20 year career there. Then in 1981, Bobby, along with their son Alec Greene, formed Greene Supply Company, where Bobby served as President.
Bobby was best known for his two passions in life, Wildcat football and fishing. As an avid fan of Valdosta High football, Bobby served twice as President of the Valdosta Touchdown Club. He was also very proud to be a shareholder of the Ocean Pond Fishing Club where he reportedly caught numerous 10 LB bass. He also served as president of the Ocean Pond Fishing Club. In addition, he was a faithful member of Central Avenue Church of Christ.
He is survived by his three children Alec (& Anita) Greene, Cheri Greene (& Hamilton) Tillman and Tina Greene (& Marvin) Brooks all of Valdosta, GA, and his brother Norman Greene of Valdosta. Bobby was very proud of his five grandchildren: Bradley (& Lauren) Brooks of Savannah, Bowen (& Cassandra) Brooks of Valdosta, Stephanie (& Mitch) Fandel of Jacksonville, FL, Scott (& Emilee) Greene of Valdosta, and Reeves Tillman of Denver, Co. In addition, he has four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Bobby is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Reeves Greene, and a sister, Francis Greene Busby.
The funeral service for Bobby will be held at 3pm on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Mr. John Klimko and Mr. Bryan Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Avenue Children's Ministry Central Avenue Church of Christ, 304 East Central Avenue, Valdosta, GA 31601.
