Blanche Bruce Peek Wilson, 83, of Hahira, died on Sunday, September 10, 2006, at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman after a brief illness. Born in Moultrie on December 24, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Grady Bruce and Ola Trammell Bruce. She had worked at Levi Strauss for more than 20 years. She was a Baptist and attended Barney First Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband, Frank Wilson of Hahira; sons and daughters in law, Jerry and Iris Peek of Quitman, Grady David Peek of Nashville, daughters and sons in law, Betty and John Mullins of Lakeland, step children, Barbara and Donald Cobb of Lithonia, Angie and Bill Sweetnam of Rostin, Sherry Houston of Atlanta, ten grandchildren, five step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a sister, Beulah Varnedoe of Tampa, Florida and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Peek, brother, Robert Bruce, and three sisters, Bernice Meyer, Bobbie Wilson and Lila Mae Bruce.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 11:00 am at Barney First Baptist Church. Pastor Keith Wise will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman. Mrs. Wilson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to service time.
