Billy Herndon, Sr.

Billy Herndon, Sr., 68 a lifelong resident of Lake Park, died on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at his residence. Born on May 2, 1936 in Echols County, he was the son of the late T.H. “Jack” and Imo Miller Herndon. Mr. Herndon was a farmer and a member of Rice Field Hunting Club. He attended Wrights Chapel United Methodist Church.

Mr. Herndon is survived by his wife, Ruth Gill Herndon of Lake Park; one daughter, Terry Herndon of Valdosta; one son and his fiancé, Billy Herndon, Jr. and Beth Sims both of Lake Park; one brother, Bobby Herndon of Lakeland; and one sister and brother-in-law, Imogene and Randy NeeSmith of Lake Park; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Billy Herndon, Sr. will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Wrights Chapel United Methodist Church in Lake Park with Reverend Greg Lee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
