Billy Albert Corbett, 67, lifelong resident of Echols County, died suddenly on Sunday, May 25, 2008. Mr. Corbett was the son of the late Oswald Aaron and Jessie Mae Sandlin Corbett. He was employed with PCA at Clyattville and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. A faithful member of Sardis Baptist Church, Mr. Corbett served as Head Deacon and Choir Director for his church. He taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and he loved to care for the grounds at the church.
Survivors are his wife of 45 years, Joyce Corbett of Echols County; two daughters and a son-in-law, Pam and Ernie Vickery of Bradenton, Florida, Deborah Kay Corbett of Echols County; two grandchildren, Ben McGuire and Christina McGuire of Echols County; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Harry Corbett of Lake Park, Ellis and Diane Corbett of Echols County, Roger and Phyllis Corbett of Lake Park, Mickey and Cathy Corbett of Echols County; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church. Reverend Garvie Nichols, Jr., Reverend Mickey Corbett and Reverend Aaron Clanton will officiate. Burial will follow at Carter Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Sardis Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sardis Baptist Church Benevolence fund for the Corbett family, 390 Corbett Lane, Lake Park, GA 31636.
