Willie Howell Rosebrough “Billie” McCullough, 96, of Valdosta, and the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, Georgia, died on Friday, May 5, 2006, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. Formerly of Shreveport, Louisiana, she was born June 14, 1909, in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Emma Howell McMahon and Radford Williams Rosebrough, Sr. Mrs. McCullough was a member of the Methodist Church for over 90 years. She was a long time member of the Gleaners Class and the Bell Choir at First United Methodist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana and was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Valdosta, Georgia. Mrs. McCullough also was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority for more than 75 years and was active in the Junior Service League in Louisiana. She was an avid gardener, bridge player, and she loved to play the piano.
Survivors are her daughter, Martha McCullough Giddings and her husband, Winter of Valdosta, a son, James P. “Jim” McCullough and his wife, Rosemary of Richmond, Virginia; a brother, Richard Foster Rosebrough and his wife, Helen of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren, Michael and Deanna McCullough of Richmond, Virginia, John McCullough of New York, New York, Kristin McCullough of Bradenton, Florida, Meg Giddings of Valdosta, four great grandchildren, Mary Katherine, Matthew, Elizabeth Anne and Allison Lynn McCullough of Richmond, Virginia; her special nieces, Brandy “Nan” Baker and her husband, Blaine of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Radford “Raffy” McGrath and her husband, Lawrence of Destin, Florida; and several other nieces and nephews. Her beloved husband, James P. “Mac” McCullough, a sister, Martha R. Hopper and a brother, Radford W. Rosebrough, Jr, preceded Mrs. McCullough in death.
The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta on Sunday, May 7, 2006, from 3 until 5 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church of Shreveport with Dr. Pat Day officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Park East Cemetery in Shreveport. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Day Care Center at Valdosta State University, 1500 North Patterson Street, Valdosta, GA 31698.
