Mrs. Billie Jean Salter, 78 of Valdosta, Georgia, died on January 3, 2008 at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta after a lengthy illness. Born in Hub, Mississippi on September 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Mack and Rozella Bass. Mrs. Salter was office manager for Dr. M.A. Bodron until her retirement. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana for over 50 years where she served as Sunday School Teacher and shared her talents in many other ministries. The salt of her life was her family, her church, teaching the word of God and being the hands and feet of her Savior.

Funeral services for Mrs. Salter will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2008, at Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana. Brother Whit Holmes and Brother Terry Barnes will officiate. Interment will be private at Mulhearn Memorial Park.

Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Richard M. Salter, Billie Jean Salter is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Salter of Valdosta, Georgia,; two sons, Richard Salter also of Valdosta, Craig (Nancy) Salter of Victoria, Texas; four grandchildren, Jodi Doss of Valdosta, Christy (Nick) Sust of Lakeland, Ohio, Ashley Johnston of St. Charles, Missouri, Tyler Salter of Victoria, Texas; three great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Wimpee, Eric Wimpee and Shelby Doss; a sister, Peggy Daniels of Poplarville, Mississippi, sister-in-law, Ann Salter Friou of Jackson, Mississippi. Several nieces and nephews also survive Mrs. Salter.
