Bill (Jay) Harris

BILL (JAY) HARRIS, 67, of Hahira died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at his home. He was born on April 5, 1940 in Lowndes County to the late Wiley and Jewel Jones Harris and was a lifelong resident of Lowndes County. Mr. Harris was a retired heavy equipment operator with Reames and Son Construction and a member of the Hahira First Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Flippo Harris, two sons and a daughter in law, Mark and Debbie Harris, Jonathan Harris, two grandsons, Patrick Harris and Mark Jason Harris, Jr. all of Hahira, five sisters, Marie Smith of Brandon, Fla., Dorothy Hodges of Valdosta, Barbara Riner of Hahira, Wanda Gaskin of Lake City, Fla., Mary Gibb of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, five brothers, I. W. Harris of Cobbtown, George Harris of Hahira, Jack Harris of Providence, Fla., Jerry Harris of Hahira and David Harris of Brandon, Fla., sisters in law and brother in law, Shirley and Raymond Bennett of Quitman and Betty Fannon of Adel. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Hightower.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, August 17, 2007 in the chapel of Martin/McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Sumner and Rev. Arther Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
