Beverly Smith Teague, 91, of Valdosta died Monday, January 20, 2014 at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on June 12, 1922 in Columbus, Georgia to the late John Frank and Ruth Comer Smith and had lived in Valdosta since 1956. Mrs. Teague was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Valdosta. Mrs. Teague was actively involved in the church and with the First Presbyterian Church choir singing for 41 years under the choral leadership of her husband, Dr. Webster Teague. She shared her voice and her love of music with her community, glorifying the Lord. Mrs. Teague was also a very talented painter. She portrayed the beauty she saw all around her in her paintings.
Survivors include her son, John Lawrence Teague of Valdosta, her daughter, Amy Teague Loskoski of Savannah, her grandchildren Danielle Gross of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Sarah Loskoski, Thomas Loskoski, Rebecca Loskoski all of Savannah, sisters in law, Kathy Smith of Atlanta and Jayne Teague of Hope, Arkansas and her companion pet, Roscoe. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Webster W. Teague, Jr. and her brother, J. Frank Smith, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11am, Friday, January 24, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Dwyn Mounger, Rev. Jerry Long and Rev. John Akers officiating. Entombment will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7pm at the funeral home.
