Beverly Hutton Smith

Beverly Hutton Smith, 75, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on March 10th, 2017. Beverly was born in Trenton, New Jersey on November 24, 1941. She earned a Registered Nursing Degree from The Mercer Hospital School of Nursing in Trenton, New Jersey in 1962. Her love of nursing remained a constant in her life for the next forty-five years. Her desire to encourage more youth to enter the medical field led her to develop the Health Occupations course at Valdosta High School in 1978. She retired from the Valdosta City School System in 1993 and South Georgia Medical Center in 2007; where she left many of her former students to carry on in positions throughout the health care field.

Beverly cherished the company of all God's animals, especially her beloved pets. She adored everything Disney, where she enjoyed many special vacations over the years. However, the passion in her life was spending time and making memories with her family.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Cyndi Brooks of Saint Augustine, Florida; her daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Robert Plummer of Valdosta; her granddaughter, Frances Plummer of Valdosta; and her great-grandchildren, Julian and Holly Boswell of Jacksonville, Florida.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Beatrice Hutton; and her son-in-law, Albert Brooks.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens, 3945 N Valdosta Road, Valdosta, Georgia. Rev. Jim Schappaugh will officiate.
