Beverly Ann Parrish, 87, of Valdosta, died on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at South Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health. She was born on August 11, 1936, in Cook County Georgia to the late J.C. and Dochia Griffin Akridge and has been a lifelong resident of this area. Mrs. Parrish was a retired seamstress. She worked for many years at Valdosta Dry Cleaning before opening her own Little Sewing Shop in Remerton. After retirement, she continued to do alterations for her customers from home. Mrs. Parrish had been a member of Greenwood Baptist Church for fifty years and ministered to others through the birthday, sympathy and encouragement cards to she sent to everyone. She was very active with the Flower Committee and various other capacities in the church. She loved spreading God’s word with anyone that she come in contact with. She was strong in her faithfulness to the church and never missed a service thru the pandemic and was an active member until her death.
Mrs. Parrish is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Mike Copeland of Dasher; her sister, Hazel Harrelson of Leesburg, Georgia; her very dear friends, Don Ganas and Debbie Pike both of Valdosta; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Emory Parrish; her brother, Ronald Akridge, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Services for Beverly Ann Parrish will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Nelligan officiating. The burial will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
