Beulah Stalvey Exum, 94, of Valdosta, died on Friday, March 16, 2007 at Heritage House Nursing Home after a short illness. Born in Lowndes County on December 13, 1912 she was one of twelve children born to the late John J. and Ellen Cowart Stalvey. Mrs. Exum was associated with the Pine Grove School lunchroom for many years. She was a member of Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors are her son and daughter in law, Bobby E. and Sammye J. Exum of Valdosta, daughter in law, Sallie V. Exum of Valdosta; three grandchildren, Glenn and Paula Burgess of Valdosta, Dan and Karen Burgess of Valdosta, Tamela Burgess of Valdosta; three great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, sisters, Lelia Moore of Key Stone Heights, Florida, Ruth Gerregano of MacClenny, Florida, brothers and sisters in law, Leland and Margaret Stalvey, Owen and Numa Stalvey of Ray City, Arlie and Jane Stalvey of Orlando, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Virgil E. Exum, a son, John H. Exum, three sisters, Myrtis Boyd, Alberta Tomlinson, Willie Bell Stalvey and three brothers, Troy Stalvey, Dewey Stalvey and James Stalvey.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Cat Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Bob Dickerson, Elder Thad Marshall, Elder Buck Wood and Elder Jim Sandlin will officiate with burial following at Cat Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Exum will lie in state at the church from one hour prior to the service.
