Betty Pittman Allbritton, 79, of Valdosta died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Nashville on June 13, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Roy Pittman and the late Gladys Hooker Pittman Vittum. Mrs. Allbritton was a member of the Northside Baptist Church where she served as the church's very first secretary and taught the third grade Sunday School Class for many years. She was a 1953 graduate of Valdosta High School where she served as head drum majorette of the Marching Cats and achieved twelve years of perfect attendance during her school years. Mrs. Allbritton was employed with the Valdosta Daily Times prior to beginning her career with Georgia Natural Gas where she worked for twenty four and a half years. She was a loving wife, doting mother and wonderful grandmother. She dearly loved her grandchildren, who called her Doe and was dedicated to her family.
Survivors include her husband, Wallace Allbritton, her daughter and son in law, Tammy and John Eunice all of Valdosta, her grandson, John Andrew Eunice of Athens, GA, her granddaughter, Lindsey Renee Eunice of Arlington, VA., her brothers in law and sisters in law, Bill Allbritton of Atlanta, Dorothy and Norman Simpson of Valdosta, Audrey and Silas Kiser of Suffolk, VA, Mildred and James Kiser of Atlanta, Sylvia Allbritton, Faye and O'Neal Grant and Ike Allbritton, Jr. all of Valdosta, numerous nieces and nephews, special friend, Faye Culpepper of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her youngest grandson, James David Eunice and a sister, LaTrelle Houle.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Douglas Reddick and Rev. Rick Williams officiating. Entombment will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 from 6-8pm at the Northside Baptist Church, 200 E. Park Ave., Valdosta, GA 31602. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to James David Eunice Legacy Fund in care of Community Foundation of South, P. O. Box 2654, Thomasville, GA 31799.
