Betty Kelly English

Betty Kelly English, 83, of Lake Park, died on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born on January 3, 1934 in Reno, Georgia to the late Meredith and Ruth Yancey Kelly. She was an honor graduate of Stewart County High School in Lumpkin, Georgia and retired after 33 years of service from PCA (Owens-Illinois), where she worked in the Maintenance Department as a Planner/Manager. Mrs. Betty loved to travel, work in her garden, fish, sew, quilt, but most of all spend time with her family and friends. She devoted herself, especially in times of difficulty, to her family and friends and was there with all the love and support that was needed through life's journey. Mrs. Betty was also a long-standing and active member of Lake Park United Methodist Church, and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Lisa English of Lake Park; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jim Lyons of Valdosta; two grandchildren, Larry Joe English of Valdosta and Angela Nicole Smith of Jacksonville, Florida; four great-grandchildren, Dylan English, Garrett English, and Trevor Washington all of Hahira and Michelle Nicole Smith of Jacksonville, Florida; a brother, Meredith (Bud) Kelly of Valdosta and a sister, Mary Kelly of Macon, Georgia; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Archie (Fred) English.
A graveside service for Betty Kelly English will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Lake Park Cemetery with Rev. Richard Soper officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the McLane Lakewood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Lake Park United Methodist Church, or Bethany Hospice.
