Betty Keith Phillips, 89, of Valdosta, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 22, 2018. Mrs. Phillips was born on December 19, 1928 in Omega, Georgia, to the late C.L. Keith, Sr. and Vora Anderson Keith. She grew up in Omega where she met and married her husband of 67 years, Samuel Ned Phillips. She was an active member of Crossroads Baptist Church, formerly Azalea City Baptist Church, for many years where she volunteered in the church and served on various committees. Mrs. Phillips was known for being an excellent seamstress, sewing and smocking many of her daughter’s and granddaughter’s clothes, including their wedding gowns. She worked many years at Steel’s Jewelry where she retired in December 2016. She was known for being a true southern lady.
Mrs. Phillips leaves behind her three children and their spouses, Dianne and Buddy Yow of Valdosta, Debbie and Bobby Graham of Senoia, Keith and Brenda Phillips of Valdosta; four grandchildren and their spouses, Shannon Yow (& Kevin) Johnson of Woodstock, Melinda Page Graham of Greensboro, North Carolina, Cheryl Graham (& David) Hamel of Manhattan, Kansas, Keith Gregory Phillips, Jr. of Valdosta, and five great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Ned Phillips, three brothers, and six sisters.
The Phillips family would like to express their appreciation to the Fellowship Home and to Pruitt Hospice for the outstanding care given to Mrs. Phillips during her illness. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Ken Alford and Reverend Walter Powell will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
