Betty Jo Phillips

Betty Jo Phillips, 85, of Valdosta died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at her daughter's residence in Moultrie. She was born on July 10, 1929 in Brooks County to the late Edgar Elisha Simpson and Wilma Rebecca Bishop Simpson. Mrs. Phillips was retired from Southern Stationery. She was a member of Redland Baptist Church. Mrs. Phillips enjoyed gardening, her grandchildren and her family. She was a family oriented person.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by her daughter and son in law, Shirley and Jerry York of Moultrie, two sons and daughters in law, Raymond and Peggy Phillips and Wayne and Jan Phillips of Valdosta, five grandchildren, Jason York (Michelle), Aaron Darnell (Keri), Heather Phillips, Justin Barrett and Jessica Barrett, four great grandchildren, Austin York, Caden York, Eileen Darnell and Analei Barrett, one sister, Rebecca Maxwell and one step brother, Bobby Simpson, both of Brooks County, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raybon Carnell (R. C.) Phillips, her sister, Peggy Luke, her brother, Edgar Jackson (Bully) Simpson and her step brother, Junior Simpson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24, 2014 at one p. m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Joe Carr officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
