Betty Jean Kennedy Griffin, 89, of Morven died Thursday, September 16, 2010 at her son's home in Quitman. She was born in Pavo on February 21, 1921 to the late David V. and Rosa Dot White Kennedy and had lived in Morven for many years. Mrs. Griffin was a member of the Morven Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Dotty Alligood of Atlanta, her son, W. D. "Billy" Griffin of Quitman, 8-grandchildren, Gena Lynn Johnson of Valdosta, Jennifer Griffin, Dena Griffin, David Griffin all of Quitman, Todd Alligood of Woodstock, Ted Alligood of Winder and Tad Alligood of Alpharetta, 9-great grandchildren, 2-great great grandchildren, four sisters, Myrtis Allen of Fitzgerald, Deweece Blair of Quitman, Ann Dillinger and Elizabeth Anderson both of Thomasville. She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Griffin.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Morven Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Pitt officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1pm until service time at the church with lunch to be served at the church fellowship hall for family and friends.
