Betty Jean Etheridge Scarborough, 72, of Hahira, died Thursday, December 11, 2008 at South Georgia Medical Center after a long illness. She was born on October 28, 1936 in Ray City, GA to the late Perry Julian and Julia Myrtice Ray Etheridge. Mrs. Scarborough was a homemaker and a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Donald E. Scarborough, two daughters and one son in law, Pamela S. and John Brosemer and Patti Scarborough, all of Hahira, eight grandchildren, Rhonda L. Daly, Rebecca M. Brosemer, Candace R. Panter, Lori D. Brosemer, David L. Scalf, Amy D. Brosemer, Ashley B. Moore and Jason Sirmans, five great grandchildren, Jordan Daly, Brittany Croft, Lexia Patterson, Daycee Panter and Sophia Scalf, one brother and sister in law, Hugh and Shirley Etheridge of Hahira. Mrs. Scarborough is predeceased by her husband, Donald Lee Scarborough, one son, Ronald Bruce Scarborough and one brother, Glen Etheridge.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2008 at four p. m. at Bethany Baptist Church with Dr. Clyde Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in Bethany Cemetery. She will lie in state in the church for one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Friday at the Martin McLane Funeral Home in Hahira.
