Betty J. Bass Starling

Betty J. Bass Starling, 77, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at South Georgia Medical Center.

She was born December 13, 1932 in Valdosta, a daughter of the late Artis and Eva Brantley Bass. She was a member of the Hahira Church of God where she led the choir for many years. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with her family. Mrs. Starling was predeceased by her husband, Paul N. Starling; a daughter, Patsy A. Crafton; a sister, Virginia McLeod; and a brother, John A. Bass, Jr.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and D. Larry Carter of Lake Park; two son and one daughter-in-law, Donald Starling of Valdosta, and Robert and Vicki Starling of McDonough; grandchildren, Doug and Amy Carter and Melissa and Lee Boatenreiter, all of Valdosta, Bobbi and Eva Crafton of Pinetta, FL, Misty Smith, Mikie and LeAnn Starling, all of Sylvania, Becky and Jamie Jones of Augusta, and Indi Starling of McDonough; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Starling will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Friendship Cemetery, Hahira, with Rev. Leonard Harnage, Pastor of Hahira Church of God, officiating.
