Betty Elzey

Betty Elzey, 88, of Valdosta, died Friday, February 15, 2008 with her family by her side at South Georgia Medical Center. Born on October 8, 1919 in Decatur, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Nellie Abbott. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of over 66 years, Halden Elsworth Elzey of Valdosta; daughters and son-in-law, Barbara and Eddie Hagan of Valdosta and Juanita Ellis of Blytheville, AR; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Charlotte Elzey of Spring Hill, FL; grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa and David Long, Lori and Jay Wilson, Leslie and Marty McGhin, Glen and Karen Ellis, Carter and Emily Ellis, Leeton and Tina Ellis, Kim Webb, Christine Neathery. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Travis and Keri Long, Joseph and Jayson Wilson, Miller and Madison McGhin, Sarah Ellis, Stephen, Coppage, and Clinton Ellis, Toshia, Starr and Mallory Ellis, Mikells, Ashley and Brian Smith; a sister, Miriam A. Harriss of Fort Wayne, IN. Mrs. Elzey was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gary Ellis, and ten brothers and sisters.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday February 18, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Alford and Rev. Charlie Scarbrough officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
