Betty Ann George, 98, of Valdosta, Lake Park, and points south, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, at Langdale Place in Valdosta. Born Elizabeth Ann Sinclair on November 3, 1926, in Winter Haven, Florida, to DeWitt Sinclair and Elizabeth Clark Sinclair, Betty Ann graduated from Winter Haven High School before enrolling at Florida State College for Women, the name of which was changed to Florida State University before her graduation in 1948. She returned to Winter Haven and worked as a secretary & bookkeeper for the Florida Citrus Commission, marrying Harold on July 16, 1949. She later worked as a typing teacher, before becoming a stay-at-home mom in late 1952. She was active in multiple PTAs while living in Winter Haven, Ocala, Bartow, and Tampa, and in the Bartow Junior Service League, as well as serving as an elder in the Bartow First Presbyterian Church. Harold & Betty Ann moved to Lake Park in 1989, where they became active in Valdosta’s First Presbyterian Church, and she volunteered at Lake Park Elementary. In 2017, they moved to Langdale Place.

Betty Ann was naturally outgoing and friendly, loved music, reading, and almost any kind of puzzle, and enjoyed traveling and rooting for the Florida Gators.

As per her wishes, no formal service will be held; the family will gather for a private ceremony at First Presbyterian Church in Valdosta. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to all of the staff members and caregivers from Langdale Place, Comfort Keepers, and Hospice of South Georgia, for their dedication and unending compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the memorial fund at First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1094, Valdosta, GA, 31603.
