Bessie Mae Keel McLean, 96, of Hahira, died on Sunday, March 25, 2007 at her residence after a lengthy illness. Born in Toombs County, in 1910 to the late Irvin Franklin and Rosa Mae Keel, she had lived in this area for the past 80 years. Mrs. McLean was a homemaker and a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son in law, Dot & Terry Hall of Hahira; a son, Daniel G. McLean, of Hahira; seven grandchildren, Andy Hall of Hahira, Lydia (John Giffin) Hall of Greenback, TN, Adam Hall of Hahira, Tracy (Michael) Wellman of St. Augustine, Penny (Gary) Nowell of Lake Park, Susan (Martin) Hardy of Muscle Shoals, AL and Roland (Anna) Hall of Atlanta. Also surviving are five great grandchildren, Andrea (Jay) Roberts of Hahira, Trey Hall of South Carolina, Hanna Hall, Lillian Hall, & Amelia Hall, all of Augusta; and three great-great grandchildren. Mrs. McLean is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lane McLean and two daughters, Fae M. Hall and Lailia Iris McLean.
Funeral services will be held for Mrs. McLean at 2 p.m., today, Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. Rev. Clyde Stokes and Rev. Skip Van Nus will officiate. Burial will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.
