Bessie Mae Hughes Brevig, 88, of Valdosta passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at her residence. She was born on November 4, 1931 in Lenox, GA to the late Henry Thad Hughes and Viola Pierce Hughes. Mrs. Brevig worked at Texture Tech and attended Trinity Baptist Church. She loved gardening and working in her flowers.
Mrs. Brevig is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Gerry and Brenda Brevig of Naylor, Danny C. and Wanda Brevig of Valdosta, two daughters and son in law, Deborah Brevig of Valdosta and Karen and Charles Wilson of Lee, FL, nine grandchildren, Chris Bachman (Steve), Jenny Warren (Justin), Danny Brevig, Jr. (Ashley), Gerry Brevig, Jr. (Sarah), Tamara Brevig, Tracy Spivey, Renee Harris, Eric Wilson and Leigh Kemp, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carson Brevig, two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 24, 2020 at two p. m. in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Layton officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery on Troupeville Road. The family will receive friends from six until eight p. m. Thursday at the funeral home.
